Shamaiah Turner is an active member of Sheet Metal Worker's Local #17 out of Boston, MA. She is a part time instructor for the JATC and founder of their Women's Committee. In the past she has sat on the board of several labor organizations including Boston's chapter of the A. Philip Randolph Institute and Women in Leadership Development (WILD). She has served as the education chair with WILD and The Greater Boston Labor Council's Futures Committee. In those roles Shamaiah has designed and facilitated workshops centered around worker's rights, labor history, and diversity. She is an ardent advocate for women in the trades and since joining her local Shamaiah has been committed to promoting equality and fairness in the workplace
